To support initiatives that will directly aid the fight against COVID-19, the Ty Family-led companies Metrobank and GT Capital Holdings Inc., through the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) and GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI) released P8 million to fund purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to benefit healthcare frontliners.

(MBFI) was recognized as “Philanthropic Foundation of the Year” (Profiles in Excellence Award) during the 72nd anniversary celebration of the American Association of the Philippines (AAP) on February 29, 2020 at the Manila Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel Manila in Pasay City. GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI) and Deaf Evangelistic Alliance Foundation Inc. (DEAF Inc.) held a ground-breaking ceremony on February 19, 2020 at the DEAF Inc. campus in Brgy. Paowin, Cavinti, Laguna to jumpstart the construction of a two-storey school building that will benefit both deaf and hearing students currently completing junior high school and bachelor degrees in Elementary Education. Through a PhP 10 million donation, the building will have administrative offices, classrooms, a laboratory, and a library. GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI) and Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMP Tech) signed a memorandum of agreement to renew their partnership for the Scholarships for Technical-Vocational Education Program (STEP) on February 11, 2020 at the Metrobank Plaza in Makati City. GTFI turned over an amount of PhP 5 million to support the completion of a two-year General Job Automotive Servicing course of students enrolled at TMP Tech campus in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI) and Fr. Al’s Children Foundation, Inc. (FACFI) signed a memorandum of agreement on February 10, 2020 at the Metrobank Plaza in Makati City for a six-year scholarship program that will sponsor the education of 100 students currently enrolled at the Sisters of Mary Schools in Silang, Cavite. As a 6-year program, the education of these students starting Grade 7 until they finish Grade 12 will be sponsored by GTFI. More than 450,000 students trooped to 2,000 testing centers nationwide to participate in the elimination rounds of the 2020 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge or MMC on January 17 and 18. The first leg of the competition accommodated a total of 30,094 public and private schools nationwide.

In line with the celebration of the National Arts Month, the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) launched the 2020 Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) through the kick-off event of the annual Art MADE Public.
