In celebration of its 57th anniversary, the Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank), through its corporate social responsibility arm—Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) and the Ty family foundation—GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI), awarded PhP35 million worth of development grants to 40 socio-civic organizations during the annual Anniversary Grants Turnover Ceremony on September 4, 2019 at the Metrobank Plaza Auditorium in Makati City. The turnover ceremonies were led by Metrobank and MBFI chairman Arthur Ty, MBFI trustee and GTFI president Alfred Ty joined by MBFI president and GTFI executive director Aniceto Sobrepeña. Serving as guest of honor is City of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
The Metrobank Foundation has released a total amount of PhP 2 million to reach out to survivors of the recent 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the province of Batanes, at the same time assist in the immediate needs of patients in select cities in the Visayan region suffering from the dengue outbreak.
Guided by the theme, “Puso at Sigasig,” the heart for community that started it all continues to be MBFI’s rallying front, 40 years later. It is sustained by a greater zeal in order for the advocacies to move forward. The unique union of the heart and zeal forms the groundwork in the implementation of MBFI programs in public service excellence, education, healthcare, visual arts and heritage, and good governance.
The Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) received six (6) trophies at the 54th Anvil Awards on January 30, 2019 at the Grand Ballroom of the Manila Marriott Hotel, Pasay City.
Organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), the Anvil is the symbol of excellence in public relations awarded by distinguished multi-sectoral jury to outstanding public relations programs and tools. MBFI received three (3) Gold Anvils and three (3) Silver Anvils.
In time for this year’s celebration of Metrobank Foundation’s 40th anniversary, its roster of Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos, through their respective alumni organizations – NOTED (Network of Outstanding Teachers and Educators), TOPSOLDIERS (The Organization of Philippine Soldiers with Outstanding Leadership, Dedication, Integrity, Excellence and Responsibility to Society), and PROTECT (Police Officers Responsible for Organizing, Transforming and Empowering Communities) launched a pay-it-forward project called Guro, Pulis at Sundalo na may Galing, Puso, at Sigasig (GPS²). As the first ever collaborative project of these three sectors, GPS² aims to extend assistance to the City of Marawi in the process of rehabilitation.
The search for the next batch of Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos begins as top officials from the Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) and program partners from Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank), Rotary Club of New Manila East, and Rotary Club of Makati Metro gather in a historic ceremony on November 16, 2018 at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Department of Education Central Office, Pasig City.
To address the immediate needs of families affected by typhoon Ompong, GT Foundation, Inc. (GTFI), has allocated a total amount of PhP 5 million. To date, GTFI has reached out to a total of 6,100 families through a series of relief operations held in coordination with the network of Metrobank branches in northern Luzon.

(MBFI) received nine (9) awards at the recently concluded 16th Philippine Quill Awards organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)-Philippines. Held on July 9, 2018 at the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel in Pasay City, MBFI took home six (6) Quill Awards of Excellence and three (3) Quill Awards of Merits under the divisions: Communication Management and Communication Skills.
